Cable fault location
SHIRLA
shirla: Portable equipment for cable sheath testing and fault location
The shirla system enables applied voltage testing on cable sheaths and optimized fault location procedures. For medium-voltage systems, it is generally recommended during the cable commissioning phase but can also be applied later.
Main features:
• Portable DC voltage source, up to 10 kV, typically used for sheath testing.
• Automated bridge measurement equipment for fast and highly precise pre-location of sheath faults.
• Pin-pointing methods in conjunction with protrac®, using the step voltage method.
• Enables fault location in cables without metallic shielding, such as low-voltage cables.
• Applicable for high-voltage cables with cross bonding when the fault breakdown voltage is below 10 kV.
• Insulation resistance measurement up to 1 GΩ.
